This or That Game

Hi there - this is the "This or That Game" as featured on many a forum, being played right here on my blogspot. How much fun is it possible to have in one lifetime :O

Basically it works by you posting two options eg. Ricki Lee or Madonna,
the next person chooses who/what they prefer and lists two more alternatives to choose between. Can be on any topic.

I'll keep this topic near the top by bumping the date.

Ok I'll start:

Guy Sebastian or Shannon Noll?

TURQUOISE

Surfergirlbj1

Have you noticed lately when going out, that every second person seems to be wearing turquoise?
The problem with the current fashion colours is that they are one pain in the arse to accessorise.

Well I should correct that to say... they are extremely enjoyable to accessorise if you have an unlimited budget for jewellery, shades, and most importantly bags and shoes.
The main problem with turquoise is that it looks absolutely awful when matched with most other colours (other than "deep spicy" colours perhaps) and in particular blue or green. It also looks awful when matched totally with other turquoise items, what a dilemna.

MADONNA

I received Madonna's "Confessions on a Dance Floor" for Christmas - in my book you can't go wrong with a Madonna album, the production is superb and the tracks are really groovy, "now" and dance-worthy (not that I dance any more, lol).

And as for Madonna's body in the video. Wow!! I thought she was a bit of a has-been when she did that duet with Britney, but if anyone can look that good at 47 they have my total respect. I'd be pretty happy with that look at 39 let alone 47, I now look forward to growing older :)

Madonna's cover is AMAZINGLY HOT infusing 40's softness and color with disco retro of the 70's...and it's ALL CLASS. Madonna has returned. Move over kids...the real dance floor queen is about to tear it UP.

Pictures!

Here is a pictures of yours truly.

I had someone take it of me at Manly beach last Friday - so I look a little un-glamorous and post-swim, hehe.

I am holding a newspaper in one of them to prove that the photos are RECENT!! As some buddies of mine who shall remain nameless *coughs* suggested I may have sent them Old photographs!

Thanks to Milo for compressing the pictures - altho apparently as they were taken at midday the shadowing makes me look at my worst ! ie.... I LOOK HEAPS BETTER THAN THIS IN REAL LIFE!! Hehe. Thank U.

How much do ya want it?!

Surfergirlbj1

Out at dinner last night a comment made me laugh and prompted me to blog this - Is it flattery or insult if someone takes you out (or away) and says "...and I'm even paying for this myself with my own money this time, its not even on the Corporate Card"

BJ Surfergirl's Christmas Message

Surfergirlbj1

I'd just like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all my special friends, & readers of my blogspot (oh and a politically correct "Merry enforced Public Holiday" to those few who are non-Christian/atheists in our midst :D )

I know Christmas means different things to people - like Bleachy I am exasperated by the overtaking of commercialism to the point that even the pastor of Hillsong seems to put Santa ahead of Jesus Christ.

Yet here I am surrounded by Christmas presents under the tree, secretly wishing that one of them might contain something by Swarovski. Its a vicious cycle, it seems to take too much strength to break out of.

Christmas Eve is a difficult day for me as it was my Dad's birthday. Its one of those days where I dont precisely know what to say or feel, except to give thanks for the many ways he supported & guided me through life which remains part of me always.

I know I whinge like mad about some of my family, but naturally I love them to bits in their own way. My mum is here from NZ for Christmas and I guess I should be grateful for every moment I have with her.

On a brighter note - what a great year this has been in many ways. I have gotten to know most of you who are reading this, for the first time.
I value the friendships I have made immensely and look forward to 2006.

With love and sincerity I wish you a truly Cool Yule :)

Quotable Quotes

Surfergirlbj1

I came across the following two quotes today which I really like:

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are
tiny matters compared to what lies within us"
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

and

"You can take no credit for beauty at 16. But if you are
beautiful at 60, it will be your soul's own doing"
- Marie Carmichael Stopes

Hat tip for both of these to the Madison/Dove "Campaign for Real Beauty" which, incidentally, I think is an awesome concept, as it attacks unrealistic beauty ideals and the consequent lack of confidence women often have in their own bodies.
( I mean c'mon, not everyone can look like me, bwahaha. j/k :) )

"I am who I am, I'm healthy, I'll never be
a stick insect and I wouldn't want to either"
- Kate Winslet

I feel for the businesses in Cronulla

Surfergirlbj1

Subsequent to the riots in Cronulla, restaurants on the waterfront are reporting cancellations of as many as 1000 bookings from diners and for Christmas parties and functions. Many casual staff have also had to be laid off as a result. I really feel for these businesses as this is their peak time of year and none of what happened is their fault, neither is it insurable.

Hangovers and 1001 other Good Reasons not to drink!

Surfergirlbj1

Ah how I wish that the aliens that intercepted my body yesterday and forced it to drink lots of beer wine and bundy would come back and take the contents of my aching head out, pummel them gently and hand them back again good as new and not hurting like mad.

On a Brighter Note

Surfergirlbj1

The We are What we Do movement aims to demonstrate how small actions can bring profound change to other people on the planet.

Largely directed at environmental change, I like the idea of this principle for life as a whole. Turning off unnecessary lights or turning on a smile for a stranger can make the world a better place :)

- Plant a tree
- Make a cup of tea for a colleague
- Have a bath with someone you love :)

With actions such as these saving our planet seems so simple

Good Luck Bleachy!!

Surfergirlbj1

Bleachy's exam results are released in 5 minutes - I hope you do well :) :)

Hopefully those endless hours on MSN have contributed to your education somehow :O

Fitness First

I'm just posting some Fitness First timetables here for my ref. & to be lazy as it drives me nuts having to go into their site and look
up three different club timetables in order to decide which class to go to.

However if anyone would like to post anything here about Fitness First, Les Mills classes, or anything else please feel free to do so.

Personally I just love Les Mills classes - I think they are awesome (& I'm not just saying that coz I'm a kiwi) - My fave instructors atm are Donna, Holly and Tracey.

EDITED 19/12/05 - I have moved the timetables onto a new blogspot as they are taking up too much room here.

Please see new address: www.fitnessfirstaustralia.blogspot.com

Sickening behaviour

Surfergirlbj1

My previous post sparked up a conversation which I thought was worthy of posting.

It was brought to my attention that I, whilst not a racist, was actually being racist in singling out the behaviour of a certain group of people.

"the proof is that even marvelous people like you unwittingly enter into racism because its an easy labeling tool.... you do it because countless other people do it". Hat Tip: Milorad

In Australia we tend to talk about a group of people as a separate community - as long as people keep calling them *insert nationality*, they'll continue to feel ostracised and form minority gangs because of their heritage.

When I made my earlier post re the Cronulla and Lebanese problems I had not yet read today's papers.

I am DISGUSTED with the way our local people have retaliated. I mean yeah I was wound up after the life guard attack too, and the media stirred us all on, but to attack a load of mostly innocent people like that is irreproachable. I am almost ashamed to be "surfergirl" today.

I swim at Cronulla on many a Sunday but for some fortunate reason didn't go yesterday. What about the people with young children trying to enjoy the beach yet caught up in a riot?

The level of nationalism in Australia is scaring me - I mean boo-ing at our opponents National anthem when the Socceroos played recently was bad enough. Where is the line going to be drawn, I'm an Australian Citizen but I was born & raised in New Zealand, am I good enough? What "minority" group will be next until the country is so ethnically cleansed that everyone is so alike that we bore the shit out of each other.

Before yesterday's events I thought there was justification to dislike the Lebanese troublemakers:
"You go to Cronulla on a Friday night and you know what happens? You get abused, you get threatened, and you get shitty RnB played out of ridiculous stereos that are only drowned out by the morons redlining their shitty car in 1st gear to make the blow off valve sound. There are constant unwelcome and unsolicited propositions to females to "suck my dick" or "u wanna go f*&k in the back of my Civic."

OK these kids are decadent youth, no matter what their nationality is, they are a major pain and obstruction to many normal citizens who just want to enjoy this gorgeous country that we all share.

In Conclusion:

"if everyone referred to people INCLUSIVELY rather than EXCLUSIVELY, we'd own the problem, own the kids in question, and they wouldnt feel like they were alone outsiders with nothing to lose...

...saying "my kids are little shits" and "those kids are little shits" is very different.

...they are Australian, warts and all... we need to own them.

Hat Tip: Milorad

Here Here to that sentiment.
How on earth that is ever going to happen though, I do not know.

Cowards - further to attack on Cronulla lifeguards

Surfergirlbj1

I'm disgusted - not only because of the 20 or so guys that tried to beat the crap out of 3 Cronulla life guards, but a guy I know also got attacked in a similar manner this weekend.

Waiting for a taxi after Christmas party in Sydney can be a highly vexatious task - anyhow this guy I know had waited an hour, taxi finally arrived when three guys jumped on him to get the taxi off him - luckily this guy is a pretty well-built handy lad and he knocked the first two out - then two more attacked him from behind, making it 5 attackers onto the one guy.

They were too cowardly to even fight him properly with fists and instead scratched him - they obviously have very sharp nails (I seem to remember this being mentioned in the gang rape cases also) - the scratches on his face are very deep and I wouldn't be surprised if they scar.

Its pathetic, I cant see this situation getting any better. I've seen posts on other forums about how racism is hotting up dramatically in Sutherland Shire schools, and to be honest I'm not surprised. I am not a racist and this is not a specific attack on a certain race people, rather expressing my anger at having to put up with the behaviour of "angry little fucktards". I'm just stating the facts of what happened.

Is Bleachy Dude ever going to post on my Blog??

Surfergirlbj1

*sound of crickets*
Yep...well I'm still waiting

Skank Spice?

Surfergirlbj1

Walking through Myer, yet again a Sales Assistant attempted to attack me with a sample spray of Paris Hilton's fragrance.

I honestly don't know who could stomach to wear anything endorsed by PH - however correct me if I'm wrong. To me personally it would be like wearing a fragrance named "Skank".

In fact I think Paris could start with a range of flavours
- Skank
- Wannabe
- Ho No. 5

50 Cents Worth of Ecstasy?

Surfergirlbj1

Rapper 50 Cent is planning to release his own line of sex toys and condoms.

The Cent Man, who already has a clothing line and a range of energy drinks, is planning to branch out into the lucrative sex market - even creating a vibrator that looks like him (ROFLMAO!!). Oh lucky world.

Emily Williams unlikely to get recording contract with Sony BMG

Surfergirlbj1

Word on the street is that it definitely looks unlikely that Emily Snipes will get a recording contract with Sony BMG.

This is supposedly largely due to her similarity to their other signed artists, in particular Paulini. Then again it could be an aversion by Sony to the nails on blackboard sound.

Could be bucking the trend of having a successful Idol runner up as recording artist. I would imagine an independent of some sort should pick her up though.
