Cry of the Tiger - Lee Harding

Surfergirlbj1

Apparently the B-Side of Lee Harding's new single, due to come out 11/12, is going to be "Eye of the Tiger". Not sure if this is a good or bad thing :o

Also on Lee Harding's site www.LeeHarding.com.au you can even taste test his new song !(thanks for this info Bleachy ;) )

I'm not going to write anything nasty or unobjective about it at this point in time...! Opinions welcome as always, though.

No Coles in Oatley West please !! Maintain the Outrage !

Surfergirlbj1

Coles are proposing to build a supermarket in gorgeous Oatley West - despite continuing solid opposition by residents, and full the oppostion of Hurstville Council, the development was nonetheless approved by the Land and Environmental Court.

There has been extremely passionate local protests, numerous petitions, gatherings, picket lines etc by Oatley residents to show their disgust with the development. To continue with this proposal is just pure pig headedness on Coles behalf as far as I'm concerned.

They simply don't need a supermarket here - there are supermarkets of every description in all the neighbouring suburbs.

I worry about the survival of the local IGA which is a great place to shop - ok its a little bit more expensive for some things, but you never get caught up in hideous queues with squawking kids, and the service is always super-friendly.

I know its easy to say "big deal what's another supermarket - let the Corporate guys win they're going to anyhow" - however anyone who has been to Oatley must agree there is a unique atmosphere of interesting and diverse on-the-street shops where you are often known by name. It is rare for that to exist anywhere in today's society. I wonder how many of these shops will survive competition with Coles, although I for one will make a point to shop at the little shops MORE when/if Coles arrives.

Lee Harding's Recording Contract

Surfergirlbj1

Believe it or not Lee Harding has a record deal already as per the Sanity website:

http://www.sanity.com.au/product.asp?intProductID=656113&intArtistID=215649

The single, as yet untitled is due to be released on December 12th.

Oh lucky world - what hideous re-hash will we be subjected to now?!

Also - is interesting that Lee has been awarded a contract so far, but not Emily?
Could this mean the "runner-up" (ie. Callea/Shetters) like success/status will go to Lee this year rather than Emily...judging by the screaming/squawking girls in the crowd at the Idol final last night each time Lee appeared on screen, this may be the case.

Will be interesting to see what eventuates, although I personally believe that Emily - given a few extra singing lessons to eradicate the screeching - should be able to sustain a far greater career than the chipmunk.

Surfergirlbj1 - Brief Bio

"Surfergirlbj1" aka BJ or Beejay was born and raised in chilly Dunedin New Zealand (brrr), by an over-the-top eccentric German mother and a quiet natured half Scottish father (hence my rather bizarre personality variations :) )

I have two half-sisters that I am immensely proud of - one is a lecturer at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and has also done actressy things on TV including a brief stint presenting Play School in NZ! The other works in the legal profession in Sydney but actually did the concert pianist thing for a while (much much more talented than me :) )

I have a languages degree majoring in German literature, and also featuring Russian and Latin, all of which I have never used professionally! I am now studying towards Master of Business in Finance and Accounting :o

My other interests include beachy things (naturally), bush walking, abseiling (but not tooo high), camping (but preferably not in Australia - too many spiders and things!).

Surfergirlbj1 - Hello Again!

Surfergirlbj1

Hello once again - I have finally added some new stuff to this blogspot...

Please read the section below called - Surfergirlbj1 - Who am I ?! first :)

(Please ignore the test thingys at the bottom I'm not sure if I can delete them!)

Surfergirlbj1 'n Music

Surfergirlbj1

Since moving to Australia I have been less passionate about music and more interested in living life in the outdoors (well in the day at least...).

However as a teen I won nearly every piano competition in town and for a short period my ambition in life was to be a concert pianist, kind of crossed with a songwriter-rock-chick (haha).
Instead I have ended up having a career in Insurance.

Below is my top 20 albums/records ever (well more or less) in no particular order.
They are largely obscure and I just KNOW bleachy will make a smart comment!

Surfergirlbj1 - Who Am I ?!

Hello

Welcome to the surfergirlbj1 Blogspot!
If you're reading this theres a fairly good chance we've previously crossed paths somewhere in cyberspace or real life :)

Surfergirlbj1 was created due to a combination of my love of the beach and of surfing the net. I am a relatively new Internet junkie - in fact in March this year I rarely visited the internet and only had a 7 hour a month dial up plan which I hardly used!!

And then... for some unknown I visited the forum of that excruciatingly bad TV Show - the X Factor - and due to the people I met there and relationships I have formed since then, my life since then has never been quite the same :)

This blogspot is where I will begin to unravel the mysteries of the person that is me and the things I'm interested and passionate about - if anyone cares!

Thanks to my most special friends 'Ross' and 'Milo' for encouraging me to do this and have the confidence to be myself.

Take care and have fun :)
